A BIT OF INTERFERENCE: DJ Ron Update – Friday, April 10th

Bouncing around a bit, can you imagine that?
Chicago

Last weekend in Chicago was an absolute blast.  I’ve never seen Willam (from RuPaul’s Drag Race) perform live, and well, it is an experience.  While singing along to a video mix of her many humorous tracks, she channelled the legendary Divine by, how can I say this delicately, imbibing alcohol non-orally.

Music wise, I did a full range of electro, EDM, pop, future house, trance, and deep house. Ending the night with Above and Beyond “We’re All We Need,” it was heartwarming to see a majority of the crowd singing along.  A special thank you to resident DJ Eddy, manager Brendan, and the whole incredible staff for making me feel so welcome.  I can’t wait for my return for Market Days!

While in Chicago, I was booked to record video for Jerry Nunn (aka Nunn On One) as he interviewed the Ting Tings.  Some of you might remember Jerry from his infamous stint working at Tower Records on West End in the early ’90s.  He is a real character and his web interviews capture that.  Check out his YouTube channel here.  We ended up doing back-to-back interviews, so watch out for the interview coming soon on ClubPlanet!

ClubPlanet
Postings are about to go into high gear on ClubPlanet!   In addition to the weekly ClubPlanet Radio and Music For The Masses posts, watch out for video interviews to start posting next week.  As a special preview, Aussie producer/DJ/hearthrob tyDi is up first (litruhly.)  Filmed at the Players Club (rooftop Penthouse of the Raleigh hotel,) we explore his music, his radical response to online haters, and his ’50 Shades of Grey” fetishes.  Click here for my first ClubPlanet video interview.  Special thanks to the behind the scenes team – Lenny B for the intro music, DJVideos for the logo title, and Ricky Sixx for video editing/postproduction.

Live Performances at PLAY
Nashville has been aflutter with incredible live shows by top dance artists recently.  Clean Bandit, Kiesza, and Betty Who were all here on the same night last week.  Next Saturday, (We Are) Nexxus makes their Nashville debut.  The electropop duo is making waves with their new single “They’ll Never Stop Me,” which is getting major airplay on dance radio with the Jose Nunez and Sean Finn remixes.  They performed with me in Miami last year and their show is not to be missed.  Check them out next Saturday, April 18th, at Play.

When you have a stage with Crystal Waters, Kristine W, Luciana, and Vassy, it takes a lot for a new artist to shine through.  That’s just what the Rich White Ladies did at the International Dance Music Awards a few weeks ago in Miami.  Signed to Motown records, the duo of Scotty Rebel and Tokyo Diva, are buzzing all over the inter webs with “Wimbledon,” a spicy and humorous dis track with a party vibe.  Imagine Azealia Banks produced by Diplo for a reference.  Check out the video here.  Watch for them to be at Play in May!
Radio Free Nashville’s
10th Birthday Bash!

Can you believe that WRFN is 10 years old? It feels like just last week when we were in diapers, oh wait…  never mind.  Help us Celebrate the momentous occasion on Sunday at Yazoo Brewing Company (910 Divison Street) for live music (Ghettobilly, Crazy Aces, Screaming Names, and Vern the Accordion Guy), party games, food trucks, and of course, cake and ice cream.  All of your favorite WRFN DJs will be in the house, so meet all of us lovable characters 🙂  See you there.  For more info – check out the Facbeook event here.

When an industry legend reaches out to invite you to join a project, it is always humbling. I have looked up to and respected DJ Lynnwood for many years.  Not only does he produce some of the most sickening tracks, he has released more than 15 mixed CDs to wide acclaim.  His skill for programming radio is also exceptional with the Earthquake mix and Interference both in wide syndication.  I am beyond honored to be invited to join the time and you can hear my sets in the mix on Intereference radio on Friday nights (1am-2am) an Saturday night (3am-4am.)  Listen to Interference here!  #thankful

Record Store Day

Next weekend is Record Store Day.  There will be some big events in Nashville – so watch this update next Friday for the rundown…

As always, I want to that you for your support – it means more than you can imagine.
