FAVORITE THINGS: DJ Ron Update – Friday, March 13th

Two of my favorite things are…

Spinning and Eating
Last weekend was a blast.  Even though we lost an hour, Talbott Street stayed open for the night and we had a packed dance floor all night long.  The requests are always a blast, from the most current EDM and trance tracks (Ummet Ozcan, Above and Beyond, Curbi) to glorious classics (Shannon “Give Me Tonight” and Miquel Brown “So Many Men”), I worked them all in.  If you are ever in Indianapolis, you should definitely check out Talbott Street because  they know how to party.  I will be back on Saturday, April 25th.

While I would not consider myself a foodie, last night’s Spirit of Tennessee dining adventure at Green Door Gourmet was a lot of fun.  The fundraiser for Nashville Pride brought together four of Nashville’s finest chefs (Maneet Chauhan, Daniel Hergert, Richard Jones, and Brandon Frohne) who created special dishes based on trademark Tennessee products.  I didn’t know what half of it was but it was so good.  I bumped in Dale Levitski from Top Chef (another one of my guilty pleasures).  I really need to check out his restaurant Sinema.   This is one of the things I love about Nashville Pride – they experiment and try new things which brings a new flavor.  Don’t forget to mark your calendar for Nashville Pride at Public Square Park on June 26th and 27th!
This Weekend
St Patrick’s Day may be next Tuesday, but we are starting the party all weekend at Play.  Come out tonight dressed in green and you get free entry before 11!  The weekend is sponsored by Tullamore Dew – The Legendary Irish Whiskey.  Hmm… what do I have to wear that is green? I think I am going to pill out my old school raver girl jersey for Saturday!   Musicwise, I am almost overwhelmed by so many great new tracks that seem to arrive on a daily basis.  The classic divas, pop tarts, and producer/DJs are pumping them out at a fast clip.  Dance with me Friday and Saturday and you will enjoy a mix of your current favorites with some upfront tunes and updated classics in the mix.  See you on the dancefloor.

In the Mix
Dance Mix USA is showing love to Nashville by adding thre local DJs to their mixshow rotation.  Joining the Friday night lineup are Remedy, Jason Shawhan and Ricky Sixx.  DJ Remedy is a resident at Play Dance Bar who is going to be spinning Gay Days in Orlando. Check out his new track Neptune here.  Known for his pithy blog Rebirth of the Flesh and frequent Nashville Scene contributions,  Jason Shawhan translates his DJ sensibility into a musical journey blending classics across multiple genres of dance music for seamless sets like you’ve never heard before.   Ricky Sixx has built a reputation for his exuberant marathon sets at the Male Socials parties and his workout friendly mixes for CARDIOfm. Check out their sets back to back on Fridays from 7pm-10pm.  Don’t forget my weekly show on DanceMixUSA, Saturdays at 9pm!
Club Planet
This week marked a major accomplishment.  I finally posted the last interview from Amsterdam Dance Event.  Yes, I did SO MANY interviews over the course of those four days that it has taken me this many months to get them all posted.  Don’t worry, I saved one of the best for last – Ferreck Dawn.  The Dutch house producer caught everyone’s attention with “Love Too Deep” and his genre-defying remix of “Gold Skies.”  Interviewing him was a treat, because he isn’t afraid to speak his mind.  Check out his interview here.  The funny thing, just as I finish ADE interviews, I am getting ready to head to Miami for another marathon week of interviews.  It is going to be different this time, all video.  Be sure to click over to Clubplanet here.  (Picture with Ferreck Dawn taken at ADE 2014.)

One Last Thing
Happy Pi Day!  Tomorrow is March 14, 2015 …  3/14/15 …  3.1415 … Yes, I truly am a geek.  (Image credit Cartesian Bear.)

As always, I want to thank you for your support – it means more than you can imagine.
