Thank You: DJ Ron Update – Friday, June 19th

I want to say…

Thank you.
I have to start with a big thank you to everyone out there.  The amount of eMails, texts, calls, and social media posts have been mindblowing.  I cannot tell you how much it means and how much love I have for y’all out there.  The Going Away Party at Play was quite emotional, and while I was reaching for “We’re All We Need” as a closing song, I just knew I wanted to end happy – so “Clubland” by Kristine W was the obvious choice.  Thank you so much for coming out to dance with me.  Thank you for supporting me.  Thank you for supporting the Nashville club scene.  (Picture with Derek Johns taken at Play Dance Bar.)

The past few weeks

So, I moved to Chicago and it has been quite smooth.  I had lots of help from movers that I found on Angie’s List with packing and unpacking the truck, along with a good friend, Ryan, and my boyfriend Ricky who drove up with me.  Downsizing from a three-bedroom house to a one-bedroom apartment was a challenge, but purging and eliminating clutter has helped immensely.  I highly recommend Marie Kondo’s book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.”

We arrived in town just in time for the RuPaul Drag Race Season 7 reunion where we got to meet and see all the wonderful performers.  Jaidynn Diore is just as FIERCE as always!

My first weekend DJing at Roscoe’s was everything.  DJing in the backroom was unique because I am so used to spinning with video that DJing only audio was more challenging than I expected.  The crowd was up for it and the floor was packed all night.  On Sunday, I spun video in the front room- which is like Tribe- and had a great time.  I’m learning how to read the crowd here and realized not to play Gloria Estefan’s “Wepa” because everyone here throws napkins (like we do in Nashville for “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” during Sunday Showtunes).  (Pictures with Brian Holmes, Jaidyn Dior and Mikey P taken at Roscoe’s)

Chicago is quickly becoming a second home, but I am…

Coming Back to Indianapolis and Nashville
After spinning tonight at Roscoe’s, I will be driving down to Indianapolis to spin at Talbott Street.  Expect a five-hour set of mixed video madness at Indy’s best place to dance.  I didn’t even realize it but the drive is shorter from Chicago than it is from Nashville.   Who knows, maybe I will bring some hot guys from Chi-Town down with me?  See you on the dance floor tomorrow night at Talbott!

Next weekend, I am SO EXCITED to be back in Nashville to spin at PRIDE and PLAY!   There’s no way I could ever miss Nashville Pride.  It is simply in my blood.  Remember the Pride Ball at the Parthenon?  Or marching on the sidewalks? Pride in Centennial Park?  To be part of the festival is always a highlight of the year for me.  Friday and Saturday night, I will be spinning at Play.  Since Pride is one of the big gay holidays, I know the nights will be massive.  See you soon.

May I ask for your advice?
In the last eMail update, I mentioned changing my name to RONS and creating a new logo.  Well, after a few weeks on FIVER – I narrowed it down to three finalists.  Here they are.  I would love to know what you think…

As always, I want to thank you for your support – it means more than you can imagine.
