BACK ONCE AGAIN: Update – Friday, October 30th

Back once again…

A Wonderful Two Weeks

This always happens when I go on a trip.  I leave with the intention of posting everything on Facebook/Instagram.  Then, after the first few days, I am like, screw this.  I want to experience the world, not just chronicle it.   I do have lots of pictures to post on my socials with some funny stories, and they will be popping up gradually as I play catch up.  (Picture of Uber car that picked me up in Paris – perfect license plate, eh?)

The Amsterdam Dance Event was pretty incredible.  With the help of the Nexus Radio team (Gregory and Manny), I managed to do 30 interviews over the course of four days.  Thanks to Ricky Sixx, the video editing is already in process with Nicky Romero already posted here. (Picture of the incredible Manny and Greg taken at ADE.)

It’s so hard to choose a favorite – chatting with legends (Marshall Jefferson, Crystal Waters, Freemasons, Judge Jules, Barbara Tucker, Darude, Chocolate Puma) and rising stars (Arno Cost, Mike Mago, Adam Turner,  House of Virus) is always a highlight of my year.  I will be honest, before I went to Amsterdam I had one of my worst interview experiences here in Chicago.  I won’t go into detail or name names, I will just say that my personality/persona was completely misunderstood.  As I was planning my interviews for the ADE, that kind of affected me for a bit until I realized that I am who I am and it really is my personality that people vibe with.  With that in mind, I can honestly say that the interviews that I did in Amsterdam were some of the best of my career.   I can’t wait for you to see them all on Nexus TV! (Picture with Chocolate Puma.)

Of course, I also sniffed a lot of great perfume and met some great perfumers.  Hiram Green is an incredible natural perfumer and his tuberose scent Moonbloom is absolutely divine.  Erik Zwaga is a perfumer/blogger/artist with the unique vision to upcycle perfumes or make what we would call perfume mashups. Leo Crabtree is the nose behind Beaufort, a new line inspired by British maritime history.  The hilarious and friendly Neela Vermeire is always a joy to hang out with.  Look out for all of these interviews on NotableScents.  The writeups are going up as quickly as I can write (and remember them).  (Picture with Hiiram Green)

A Long Party Weekend

This weekend is going to be insane, with me spinning every night from Friday through Monday (and twice on Halloween)!  I will be spinning at Roscoe’s Friday Night, Saturday early evening, and Sunday night.  I will be spinning at The Glenwood Saturday late evening and Monday night.  Confused?  Let me break it down.

I am kicking off the weekend on Friday at Roscoe’s.  The main floor is going to be crazy with everyone in town for the Halloween block party.  On Saturday, I will be starting the Halloween madness spinning from 4pm-9pm until the costume contest (with the $750 grand prize). Then Sunday, I am back for the return of XYZ!  The monthly party features the best music of the Millennium – from 1995-2005, all video and all fun.  Last month was such a blast and all the girls (Trannika Rex, Ariel Versace, Shea Coulee, Lola Lecroix, Alexis Bevels, Sara Andrews, Kim Chi) are back for millennial hot box madness.  What a great way to end the party weekend!

Saturday night, I will be spinning the Halloween party at The Glenwood starting at 10pm.  We will be going all night and with the time change, it will be an extra wild night.  Comedian Kirk Williamson will be hosting the costume contest and I will be spinning music video all night long!  On Monday, I will be launching a new weekly party at the Glenwood – Manic Milagro Margarita Monday… or just MMMM… tasty drinks and tasty music videos by your truly.
